INSANE rare Blue Krait! Possible new species? Herping Thailand
you are a very talented and gifted individual many blessings
It’s not if, it is when you will get bit son! I know. I was that guy once….years ago. Get insurance, get a will. Your day is coming, don’t kid yourself!
I havent been scared of someone handling a snake in a long time. Stay safe young man.
OK so that was a few drops as well. That's kinda horrifying.
I love kraits, and that is by far the most gorgeous one I've ever seen! The slug snake is freakin' adorable. It's too bad they are so hard to keep in captivity (unless you plan on breeding slugs as well.) I didn't know that coral snakes had such long venom glands. That's just crazy. I've never even heard of a bronzeback before. They must not be popular in the pet trade. The striped coral snake looks like a garter snake or a ribbon snake, it would be easy for an amateur to make a horrible mistake. The Wegler's viper is such a sweetheart, I can see why you like them so much. The blue tongue on the rat snake was pretty impressive. It looks like he's blowing a party favor. I loved seeing all of the lizards, geckos, and frogs too. You've got a new subscriber! ❤
Wow that green red tailed rat snake was a mammoth. I saw an albino one for the first time watching Kevin mccurley N. E. R. D. They are so neat looking . Kinda reminds me of a boot slanger . This green one was a bueat!! I was just watching through your old videos👍🏼
Do you ever worry about people taking you out deep into the woods to harvest your organs?
I can’t say that I have. What a bizarre and extremely unlikely scenario haha
Crazy you free handling these blue coral snake, even thought you know that if you got bitten the chances are 50% lethal even with hospital
This is extremely inaccurate. Bites from Blue Corals are almost never fatal, even without treatment. As far as I know, there has only been one recorded death from the species - a child who had a severe anaphylactic reaction. Anaphylaxis can occur as a result of countless things though, such as a simple bee sting. If I were to get bitten likely effects would be strong pain and swelling, but not much else.
that's all , its waaay passed my bed time.
Wow the face of that little lizard
It is funny, I am scared of snakes but if I was hanging out with you I would feel comfortable free handling some snakes under your supervision.
I actually do offer guided tours, where you’d be able to handle snakes, even venomous ones, under supervision. Look up @exploreherpetology on Instagram for more details :)
I don´t think he is going to bite you.......
Me neither
🔥🔥🔥as always
Thanks Hans!
your passion and love for these animals is inspiring!
Thank you so much!

Not in the slightest
Oh, come on David… You were fooled too lol
I know one thing that'll get you killed for sure and that's complacency and I see a lot of that here I'll still watch the videos cuz I love the channel but man you take a lot of unnecessary risks
I’ve heard it all every single day for over a decade now :)
I know you know what you're doing man but there was a lot of close calls in this video I love watching your videos man but it's not worth your life at a young age❤❤❤
Even though it doesn’t look like it to the untrained eye, I’m actually incredibly cautious when handling venomous snakes.
Those termite's was crazy lol 😂😂😂😂😂felt like me and my ex 😂😂😂😂😂😂be safe ❤
Hahahahahaha
There is always a first time. When in doubt.. Pull out. Dancing with the devil.
😂
Copperheads are really beautiful. Of the subspecies I like the Trans Pecos best. However in Oklahoma we have the Osage Copperhead. Which lacks banding and is a blue grey color with cream belly. Also very cool. Cary in Tucson
Transpecos are definitely my favorite too. They’re superior in every way.
Cut your fucking nails
A hook is a cheap tool all herpers carry. You may like to handle the venomous snakes but you really need to show a bit of intelligence. Quit being stupid so as not to be teaching children to be stupid.
WOW" SPEECHLESS in IDAHO!
Thanks!
Thank's David...really amazing , from France
Merci!
hi
Hi
With the exception of his razor-sharp claws that monitor was very docile. I’ve always thought the head/neck shape of some of the smaller monitors (especially) is very bird like. Also; the first turtle was a very large Golden coin turtle and that blue butterfly was a blue morpho species. Great video. 👍🏻
Indeed, with several monitor species I always think of birds, but especially with this one. However, the turtle is NOT a Golden Coin Turtle. It is a Malayan Flat-shelled Turtle (Notochelys platynota), as stated in the video.
Yes, it is. However I thought you identified it as Heosemys spinosa in the video. So many of those SE Asian species look very similar.
@@The_Crucible714yes, I did briefly think it might be spinosa when it was submerged in the water but then corrected myself afterwards. The Golden Coin Turtle (C. trifasciata) is endemic to Hainan, China. This was filmed in the southernmost tip of Thailand over 1000 miles away. It is certainly a Malayan Flat Shell.
Did he fart?
I think so
Great video 🤘🏻
Glad you enjoyed it!
This guy is going to get tagged really badly soon.
I recommend subscribing so you get to find out 🤣
Please stay safe!
Trying my best to!
The cinnamon frogs are so cute!! Blue corals are always absolutely stunning! It always amazes me how docile some of the pit vipers are. It seeing interactions like these that really show snakes are not mean animals that always want to attack/bite. That red headed trait was huge!!
Thanks a lot! It’s my goal to show that many snakes although venomous, can be quite sweet when treated gently.
killing it 🔥
Thanks!!
Thanks for the video David! Also, thank you for not intentionally taking the piss in your videos all the time. Thank you for that.
Many thanks again Mikie! I try my best to keep things somewhat serious yet entertaining :)
@@DAVIDSFEED you’re doing a great job friend. I appreciate it greatly.
I now had the time and watched it. Nice diversity of snakes and other animals. The Amami rabbit is a very rare and evolutionarily distinct rabbit. Yes, male newts have a swollen vent. They have glands which produce material for the spermatophore. It is laudable that they are protecting their wildlife, but on the other hand the situation with the pit viper is unfortunate. I don’t know what to make about this.
Thanks for that info, greatly appreciate it Stefano! Wildlife protection in Japan overall was very good - with the one BIG exception of the Habu. I thought this was truly shocking.
I was stationed in Okinawa in the Marines. Lived there for a year. It was awesome...I was bitten by a Habu in Jungle Warfare Training on the Island. snakes everywhere...still have the scar ....Island is also home to many sea snakes...Good times!!..FYI they make a Sake using the snake, call Habu Sake. Its like the worm in the bottom of the bottle like Tequila.
Wow, how did the bite happen / play out? I’d love to hear more. The snake Sake is very sad in my opinion, I refused to try it.
@@DAVIDSFEED ..We we're training in the Jungle on the Northern end of Okinawa in 1994...We seen many snakes in the area. While laying on the ground, a small snake crawled across one of my fellow Marines, I stood up and kicked it with my foot, it turned and "snapped" at my shin just above my boot. Didn't think anything about it. As we marched back to our training site, during our debriefing, I felt dizzy. We had a medic onsite and I told him I felt very dizzying and my leg hurt. In short, my shin was swollen over my boot. I told him I kicked a snake, and he knew I was bitten. He gave me a shot, and a very small pill. (I wish I knew what he gave me, but it worked) I declined to go to hospital as we graduated from Jungle Warfare School that next morning. That night I had to be watched overnight. I had nightmares and my watchmate stated I was screaming during the night. I woke up the next morning feeling better. My leg was swollen a bit for a few weeks, lost a bit of flesh around the bite, but after a few months my leg look normal, other than a scar on my shin from the skin damage. I was lucky, I was 23 years old, a young strong Marine. It was a baby and I believed it just pricked me, rather than a solid bite. I have seen many since then, but gave them the respect they needed. We knew of the Habu in the area, however we were more scared of alleged Cobras on the island. My nickname was "Habu" my remaining time on the island! I love reptiles and have dozens, I only wish I could have brought one home! Note they also sell Cobra egg/venom drinks on the island. Love your channel, and bought some of your shirts on Amazon! Cheers!
Are you kidding! Monitors especially Odatria are way cooler than snakes.
Not in my book. Don’t get me wrong, I like them, but snakes are better.
Great vid, loved the huge wag, but I’m biased. Also the krait was nuts
Thanks bro
That bird was like did I ask u to film me 😂
🤣
Question so with the venom glands of the Blue Coral snake being in the body and so long, when consuming prey does it compress the venom glands and cause the snake to inject more venom into its meal?
I would assume not
The Blue Coral Snake is so pretty, the red head, tail and entire underbelly. So beautiful.
In my opinion one of the most beautiful snakes on earth. I just wish they were thicker
1:38 Chestnut-naped Forktail
Thanks
I live in North Carolina, in the US and I’ve come across snakes similar to the dwarf reed snake. It first glance I thought they where earthworms! They move like a snake though.
Not sure which species that would be in your area
You almost got bit in the first 4 seconds 😱😬
Naaa, wasn’t even close ;)
Dude, David, what a monster Flaviceps! You make me so anxious every time I watch your videos and you handle a super venomous snake, that if it bite you way out there in the forest, could drop you dead before you can get proper help. I don’t want that to happen to you bro! Always exciting footage, nonetheless. You’re a boss herper, my dude
Thanks Matt! Even though it may not look like it to the untrained eye, I am actually being incredibly careful. I’m glad you enjoyed it!!
damn david.... u're best at what you do. That wagler's pit viper casually sneaking on your bag and you being calm... u're the boss David hats off. Be safe buddy and keep dropping bangers like this one.
Thanks a ton, greatly appreciated!!
@Davisfeed , I keep offering suggestions as a former American Wildlife Specialist because I like you as a fellow herper. I just learned something new from you about the blue coral. I had no idea how large the venom glands were. That is an amazing specimen, the first of it's kind I've seen. I like how you improved your close ups. I will humbly make one additional recommendation. Take what money you are making from this channel over living expenses and buy a high quality light/ torch that BEST covers the spectrum. You need a head lamp or special mount for it too. I'm not up on light tech, but it would be a big asset to bring out the iridescence and deep collor hues of these herps at night. You are taking very high risks, so why not get the best of the best light for you to capture the vivid photography that you are getting. What you have is good, but you need pro lighting my friend. 🍵😎👍
Thanks a lot! Unfortunately, this channel isn’t very profitable and I’m not even coming close to breaking even on the expenses of each herp trip. This video was filmed a year ago, I have since invested in a better head lamp. I’m always trying to improve but at the same time can’t be carrying too much gear around. Every extra minute I spend setting up gear is a minute of herping lost.
@@DAVIDSFEED Your content is excellent and you've been working real hard. Even though everything is dependent on the YT algorithm, I expect that to change this year. I understand your dilemma totally. Stay safe and keep up the good work. You've got a fan rooting for you in West Virginia.
@@preacherman9018thanks a ton!!
Dave is going to get bit he is being too loose with handling these venomous snakes
It’s certainly a possibility :)
Great video as always 💥 thanks again.
Thanks so much Gemma!
